Arts and Crafts Exhibition
On Saturday 9th May, St Michael's Church in Spencers Wood hosted an Arts and Crafts Fair; exhibiting work by local artists. We were very proud and delighted that artwork produced by 18 students from Oakbank was included in the exhibition.
Here is just a selection of the work exhibited:
Abstract images developed from Doodle artwork. The focus has been to learn new painting techniques such as pointillism, All Prima and wet-on-wet; developing colour theory and then applying them to their final outcomes.
Design Technology / Textiles. Students were tasked with creating a 3D wire sculpture insect and decorating it with embroidery stitches, papier-mâché and felting. The brief of the sculpture was that it had to be used as a mobile to decorate a nursery for a two to three year old.
Students have been learning abstract painting in response to the artist Mark Bradford. Using mixed media such as paint and maps of the local area, students experimented with blending and scraping paint to create an abstract 'painterly' image.
We are hoping to showcase more work from our incredibly talented and creative students at the Swallowfield Show in August.
