Admissions Policy and Procedure
The school’s admissions policy balances the desire to have a school rooted in the community with the need to ensure that the school draws children mainly from the local area. This aim is reflected in the over-subscription criteria.
The Pupil Admission Number (PAN) for Oakbank is 112 for each year group. Anthem will consider all applications for places at Oakbank.
Where fewer than the PAN for the relevant year group are received, Anthem will offer places at Oakbank to all those who have applied. Where the number of applications for admission is greater than the PAN, Oakbank will consider applications against the over-subscription criteria. This does not apply to students with statements of Special Educational Needs where Oakbank is named in the statement, who will be admitted first.
Admission Appeals - admission in September 2020
Tuesday 16th April 2020 – National Offer Day Primary
Monday 2nd March 2020 – National Offer Day Secondary
Parent/carers who wish to appeal against the school’s decision not to offer a place to their child should contact Wokingham Borough Council via www.wokingham.gov.uk/schoolappeals. Appeals will be heard in line with the School Admission Code (2012). An Independent Appeal Panel will be arranged to consider our reasons for refusal and the parent/carer’s reasons for wanting their child to attend the school. You will get at least 14 calendar days’ written notice of an appeal date.
The decision of the Independent Appeal Panel is binding on both the school and the parent/carers.
The deadline by which appeals must be made is 30th March 2020.
In light of the current situation regarding the Covid-19 virus, depending on the situation at the time, it is hoped appeals will be held at the end of June 2020.
